For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to teach. I had the smartest dolls and stuffed animals on the block because they were always at school. There was no other option for my life as an adult…I was always going to be a teacher. And now here I am, 9 years in, living out my childhood dreams!
It is amazing that the Lord has allowed me to do this. It is equally terrifying that He has entrusted me to help mold little minds into being respectful, kind, honest, helpful parts of society!
If I’m being honest, I used to stress out about not getting through all of the lesson plans or all of the letters, but at the end of the day, those are not the important things! The important things are showing my students the love of Jesus, teaching them how to respond when someone upsets them and building character and life skills that are going to go with them throughout their lives. Those are the important things, and that is why I do what I do.
I am a preschool teacher in Southern West Virginia. I have been teaching at the same school for 9 years and I love it! Preschool is a hard age to teach because there are so many emotions and so many life skills that these little ones haven’t learned yet, but it is oh, so rewarding!
In my classroom we focus on character building and social/emotional and life skills. Our academic learning is weaved into everyday play, sensory activities and hands-on learning!
I feel a deep passion and responsibility to instill in my students compassion for other people, the desire to do right when they are the only ones, and character traits that are going to accompany them all throughout their lives.
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me! I am so glad you’re here!
